Sisters of Saint Joseph Peruvian Project
Ethica believes in giving marginalised and impoverished women in Peru the opportunity to earn an income by providing the resources to make products for sale in Australia and paying a fair wage for those products. It is a strategy for poverty alleviation and sustainable development that maintains the dignity of the women and teaches them skills for the future. Many of the women we seek out to help would be unemployed without this scheme.
The Sisters have established four groups around Peru that make products for the Ethica Accessories range: they are located in Lima, Pitumarca and Tarma.

The Thai Teenage Project
The Project is based at the Wat Arun Buddhist temple in Bangkok Thailand. This school has been setup to serve as a boarding school for poor and disadvantaged teenagers from Northern Thailand. Accommodation, meals and education are provided for all students free of charge.
There are nearly 1 million Child/Teenage sex workers in Thailand, one of the world leading traffickers in child prostitution and sexual exploitation. Many boy’s and girls living in Northern Thailand’s rural provinces are lured away from their parents by traffickers who promise these teenagers jobs at restaurants and resorts in popular tourist spots such as Phuket. These girls and boys are more likely to end up working as prostitutes and become addicted to drugs It is estimated that half the prostitutes in Thailand are infected with HIV. Many teenage boys are tempted into a life of crime and drugs. Due to the extremes of poverty in Northern Thailand parents are forced to sell their children to these traffickers for as little as the pathetic sum of $20USD.
The Thai Teenage project is dedicated to assisting these vulnerable teens before they are targeted for the sex trade, and through the provision of a proper education, equip them with the skills they need to circumvent and transcend this potential disastrous life path.
